Neurodivergent-Affirming Coaching

(In a World Made for Neurotypicals)

Build habits, manage distractions, problem-solve

While everyone’s brain develops similarly, no two brains function the same.

If you are neurodivergent, you have a brain that works differently from the average or “neurotypical” person. There may be differences in social preferences, ways of learning, ways of communicating, and/or ways of perceiving your environment.

For example, you may have a distinctive facility towards detailed thinking or an affinity for analyzing patterns and problem-solving.

At the same time, though you know what you need to do, you might have challenges doing what you know. The multiple and simultaneous activities spawned by all your creative ideas can be overwhelming and holding you back.

You may be comfortable with rules and guidelines. At the same time, you are looking for more structure in your routines so you can manage your tasks across multiple settings.

Challenges with social cues, non-verbal communication, and maintaining social relationships can feel isolating, exhausting, and depleting.

As a neurodivergent individual, you may feel isolated and vulnerable, or exposed and stigmatized in a society typically designed for neurotypical people.

Does this sound like you or someone you love?

• I’m overwhelmed by the chaos in my life. I feel out of control.
• I can over-focus and get stuck, making it difficult for me to move forward.
• I’m constantly misplacing my keys and phone, especially when scrambling to get out the door.
• I don’t always say what I mean. It’s hard to express myself in ways that feel comfortable and genuine.
• I’m afraid of making mistakes and am highly sensitive to criticism.
• I’m distracted by various types of light and sounds, and sometimes touch, certain tastes, or smells.
• I get triggered, especially when I am stressed.
• It’s tough to make decisions that are important to me.
• I want more control over my time.
• I have so many important things I need to do. I have trouble starting and prioritizing.
• I need to establish more habits. I have a love-hate relationship with routines.
• I can forget to take care of myself, such as brushing my teeth.
• I must do things in a certain way, and I need to do it the right way.
• I tend to make quick choices and then second-guess myself later.
• I need to self-advocate but struggle to figure out what and how much to disclose about being neurodivergent.

Testimonial

Cheryl is a great ADHD coach! I decided to work with Cheryl during an important transition in my professional life. I received an ADHD diagnosis as an adult, and having Cheryl's guidance, feedback, and support has helped tremendously as I continue to figure out how to manage my life effectively. I did not know exactly what to expect from an ADHD coach, and each session ended up producing something surprising and helpful. Cheryl's deep coaching background, empathetic manner, and well-structured program all contributed to the meaningful progress I've experienced during our time working together, and I'm sure I'll continue to benefit long into the future. Thank you, Cheryl!
